Dr Matharoo is a consultant Gastroenterologist at St Mark’s Hospital, London with a specialist interest in colorectal endoscopy, patient safety and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). She is the Endoscopy Training Lead at St Mark’s.

She was awarded a PhD from Imperial College entitled ‘Improving Safety and Quality in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Patient Pathways’. Dr Matharoo is the BSG representative for the Royal College of Physicians Patient Safety Committee and previously was the St Mark’s Governance lead. She is an Associate Editor for Frontline Gastroenterology and is well published in the field of endoscopy quality and safety.

Dr Matharoo was previously a member of the European Society of GI endoscopy (ESGE) Governing Board as well as the Chairperson of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) ‘Supporting Women in Gastroenterology’ section.
