Dr Jonathan Landy is an experienced luminal gastroenterologist and specialist gastrointestinal endoscopist with particular expertise in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He completed his specialist training in Northwest London before undertaking an advanced endoscopy fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, one of the UK’s leading centres for intestinal disease.
Dr Landy was awarded a PhD from Imperial College London following a research fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, where he investigated interactions between the gut microbiota and the immune system, with a particular focus on patients with pouchitis. He led the first UK pilot study of faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), contributing to the evolving understanding of microbiome-based therapies.
He has published extensively in prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journals, presented his work at national and international meetings, and authored book chapters in his field. His current research interests include the diagnosis and management of very early colorectal cancer, IBD endoscopy, artificial intelligence in endoscopy, and endoscopy training and education.
Dr Landy serves as Co-Clinical Lead for Endoscopy and is an accredited National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme colonoscopist. His specialist clinical interests include bowel cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
Alongside his clinical and research commitments, he has a strong interest in endoscopy training and is actively involved in developing the next generation of endoscopists.
