Dr Gehanjali Amarasinghe is a Consultant Gastroenterologist specialising in neurogastroenterology and motility. She leads the upper GI Physiology unit and is a member of the pelvic floor multidisciplinary team. She is a skilled JAG accredited endoscopist, with regular upper and lower GI endoscopy lists.

She obtained her medical degree at Southampton University and completed her specialist training in gastroenterology and general internal medicine with the London Deanery.

Her subspecialist interest in neuro-gastroenterology and motility developed in the Wingate Institute of Neuro-gastroenterology at Queen Mary University of London, where she was awarded her PhD on the topic of oesophageal pain. She is actively involved in research and is a committee member of the Neuro-gastroenterology and Motility section of the British Society of Gastroenterology.

She is also the gastroenterology module lead for medical students from Imperial College School of Medicine at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust.
