Prof. Samar Al-Homoud, an honorary consultant surgeon at St Mark’s Hospital, has received the fantastic accolade of a World Health Organisation (WHO) regional award for the Control of Cancer in recognition of her outstanding efforts and contributions in the field of cancer control and prevention.
The award is one of the several Foundation awards managed by the World Health Organisation, to acknowledge the work and efforts of distinguished scientists and researchers who have made an outstanding contribution in the field of cancer control and prevention through formulation of national, regional, and international policies and recommendations to strengthen the Public Health.
She was one of six external editors for the WHO Report on cancer: setting priorities, investing wisely and providing care for all, which has just been published, 4th February 2020, on World Cancer Day. You can read the WHO report on cancer 2020 here.
