This course explores the role of advanced diet therapy in the MDT management of adults with IBD. Through lectures, case studies and practical sessions, participants will gain in-depth understanding of surgical and medical interventions, and how tailored nutritional strategies can be integrated across patient care pathways.
This course is led by Gabriela Poufou, Sinead Burke and Simhika Bhudia.

Course Objectives:
1. Deepen understanding of surgical interventions in IBD (e.g., stoma, pouch, resections) and associated anatomical/nutritional consequences. 2. Equip participants with practical skills to deliver personalized nutritional care as part of a holistic IBD management plan. 3. Enhance ability to identify and manage nutritional complications in IBD using dietary therapy alongside medical and surgical approaches. 4. Broaden knowledge of the MDT approach in IBD care—covering dietetics, gastroenterology, surgery, psychiatry, and pharmacology. 5. Include insights from patients on their experiences throughout their IBD journey (dietary, surgical, and medical).
