Medical student, Satvika Adiki, has been awarded the Guts UK/Falk Foundation Medical Student Prize for her project, supervised by Dr Moulton.

The BSc project, supervised by Dr Moulton, investigated the use of modafinil, a wakefulness-promoting medication, for severe fatigue in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who had been taking modafinil for at least one year. The project explored whether modafinil was associated with improvements in IBD-related fatigue, with the aim of assessing its potential as a treatment option for a symptom that can have a significant impact on patients’ quality of life.

She has since received the award at the BSG 2026 conference in Liverpool this year.

Satvika mentioned that “I was very grateful to receive the Guts UK/Falk Foundation Medical Student Prize for this project. Thank you also to Dr Calum Moulton and Dr Yaa Danso for their support and guidance.”

Congratulations Satvika, keep going with your important work!
